About Simona Ghetti


Simona Ghetti is a Professor in the Department of Psychology and Center for Mind and Brain at the University of California, Davis. She received her undergraduate degree from the University of Padua, Italy and her Ph.D. from the University of California, Davis. She first held a faculty position at the National Research Council in Bologna, Italy and then moved back to the United States to join the faculty at the University of California, Davis.
Dr. Ghetti studies typical and atypical development of memory and metacognition in childhood. Using behavioral and neuroimaging methods, current studies address questions about the emergence of these behaviors in the toddler years, their development throughout childhood and their implications for children’s ability to learn in the classroom, reason about their future states, and resist false-memory formation.
She has received numerous awards for her contributions to the field, including the Distinguished Scientific Award for Early Career Contribution to Psychology from the American Psychological Association (APA), the Boyd McCandless Early Career Award from the developmental psychology
